How long will it take to fix my computer?
Most repairs are completed within a couple of hours. If repairs will take longer we offer loaner computers onto which we can install programs so that you will be able to continue working while your computer is being fixed.
Are you a certified technican?
Ryan is a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional computer repair technician. This means they I have passed an industry standard test that shows that I am able to efficiently repair almost any problem related to PCs.
Can you come to my house and fix my computer?
I specialize in house calls. I will come at an aranged time and learn about your problems. I will then address the problem and probably repair it on-site. If you would like, I can take the computer back to my workshop and make the required repairs there. Occasionally I will need to take the system in order to make lengthy repairs but I will usually have the computer ready to return to you within one business day. Please contact me for a drop off or pick up appointment.
How much do you charge for service?
My hourly rate is $25 per hour and I only bill for time that my hands are on the keyboard. I don't charge for time waiting for files to download or for watching a virus scan run.
Do you have a warranty on repairs?
Our warranty on parts is reflected by the manufacturers warranty which is usually 12 months. If labor is the cause of a reoccuring problem, we will fix the computer again within the first 6 months.
My harddrive crashed and I need files from that drive. Can you help?
Often, using several software tools, I can restore files from a damaged hard drive. Contact me and we can discuss the type of failure and the type of data that is unaccessable.
My computer is telling me that I have a virus/spyware. What should I do?
The first thing you should do is determine exactly what program is communicating with you. Several new versions of malware (spyware) install and deceptively inform you that you have a virus when the program communicating with is the virus. The malware program will actually offer to fix the "problem" if you enter your credit card number. Don't be fooled, this type of malware is easily removed and for a reasonable rate.
Can you speed up my slow computer?
Viruses can also slow down a computer and if you suspect infection contact us and we can quckly determine the cause of your problem. You may need to simply uninstall some programs that you are not using. This is a very inexpensive repair.
My computer is clicking, what is the problem?
The most common reason for a clicking computer is the hard drive not working properly. If it is clicking, then it is only a matter of time before the hard drive will start to lose data. Backup your essential files immediately and contact Ryan for a new hard drive installation. We can install a new hard drive and copy all of your data for a very competitive rate.
I think my neighbor is using my wireless connnection, how do I make this stop?
Setup some wireless security. This involves making your access point more secure by setting up passwords and other measures. With the correct type of password, you can control who accesses your wireless network.
I am pretty sure I have a virus, how do I fix this problem?
Contact Computer Service By Ryan. We will rid your machine of all unwanted programs. We will also give you advise for preventing viruses in the future.
I am getting pop-ups all the time, why is this happening?
You may have a virus but more than likely you need to update your web browser. Most newer web browsers have pop-up blocking software that will make these go away.
